Check out these photographs of an event on the river at Bow Bridge in times gone by!
1960s? Earlier? Notice the wall at the back of both pictures. That looks like overgrown in-lets which decades before would have been used to unload river goods at the Wharf.
They and the brick wall they slot in to are now hidden behind a bank of mud and silt where The Wharf's cafe garden and the adjoining riverbank now stretch down to the waterside.
The photographer would have been standing on the 'Curry Rivel' side of the river with the bridge just out of shot to the right. Any thoughts? Many thanks to local woman Joyce James for these.
Also a reminder to all of us that the stretch of riverbank where the Eco Homes now stand wasn't always 'Private Property - No Entry'. How did they ever get away with closing that off to the public?
