AN APOLOGY:

 We're back!

Due to technical problems Carry On Langport has been unable to update its main blog page for over a month now but we are delighted to report that a new laptop has now been purchased [pictured] and that normal service has been resumed.

So here's your bank holiday bulletin and to start with a fascinating discovery in Wagg Drove where a couple renovating their commune [could be any number of addresses] have had a film developed found in an old Brownie camera under a hippy who's been asleep since 1993.

One of the pictures appears to be of the battle of Langport in 1645.

Absolutely amazing, even more amazing to see that telegraph pole there in the background on its way to Pitney.

In other news....

The thousand pound plus bill to get a cherry picker in to replace missing and out-of-place roof tiles on the town hall earlier this year doesn't appear to have been money well spent.

One of the biggest holes has re-appeared in exactly the same place as last time.

The poor old place needs a lot of money thrown at it if anyone's got a spare million.

Somerton 'not coming up with the goods'

A number of complaints have been made to a Somerton facebook page which appears to have been 'toned down' in recent weeks.

On the Somerton - Say What You Want Group - the usual "what was that siren last night?", "whose van is that parked outside my house?" and "I wish she would trim her bush back" comments have all but disappeared in recent weeks....replaced by bland advertising.

"All the fun's gone out of it" said the local vicar, "I have asked the admins if they could unban the Etsome Terrace residents who have been providing us with so much entertainment over the years"

TALKING OF SOMERTON....

Look what the town council's planning for the 80th anniversary of D-Day next month:

Anything similar going on in Langport?

No, thought not.

Didn't they scrub up well?!

Well done to all the gents who turned out for the Langport & District Friendly Society march yesterday....choosing to support an age-old local tradition instead of watching the football.

We salute you....and before anyone starts....no there aren't any women on the march.

You lot can argue that one out yourselves but with Gaza flattened, Ukraine under invasion, sewage in our rivers and seas and an ambulance service that 'might' get to you in the next 3 hours.....does it really matter?

Finally....

If you're looking for some live music this afternoon folks [Sunday] you have 2 gigs on at the same time just a mile apart.

Bad Edukation are on at Eli's and Pulk are playing at the Halfway House.

Both on at 3 o'clock. [Whatever happened to pubs working around one another?]

That's your Sunday bulletin done and dusted, thanks for the contributions and log in again soon!
