Mosque at Langport?

 Top Langport nightspot denies rumours

Reports this week that the White Lion is to be turned into a full-time mosque are being flatly denied by the pub's management. According to local media, the pub will be turned into a muslim place of worship by April 1st. But locals say The Western Gazette has got it wrong - and it's all being blamed on a visit the newspaper's Langport reporter made to the popular nightspot last weekend.
A local explained "When the journalist walked in the place was busy. Several people were down on the carpet and some were even on their hands and knees. At least 3 regulars were mumbling what sounded like Friday prayers and the poor chap obviously assumed the place was turning into a mosque."
Despite the incorrect reports, the venue continues to be North Street and indeed Langport's only traditional pub and music venue with a warm welcome to locals and newcomers alike.

The White Lion management this morning, discussing whether to go and take over the nearby Kelways Inn, currently closed after 'a problem with an extension lead'
