We have leaders!

'Night of the Long Knives' at Langport Town Council.

Councillor Janet Seaton, pictured, has been elected leader of Langport Town Council in place of former chair Councillor Julia Gadd (who did not stand for the leadership) while Councillor Cara Naden has been voted in as the Vice-chairman.
It's reported there was a round of applause when the new leader's chairmanship was made official - from both the crowded public gallery and fellow councillors. What type of leadership Janet Seaton will bring (she was already a town councillor) remains to be seen.
But she did give a hint of what she's made of when someone in the gallery - a former councillor who didn't get enough votes to stay on the council this time round - asked a question and was promptly referred to by the new leader as "a member of the public" which reportedly triggered grins all round!
Carry On Langport is also highly impressed by the fact that the new leader's surname happens to be the name of the Devon town where Langport's current town clerk won a popularity contest some years ago.
Marvellous stuff.

Meanwhile, through the Hanging Chapel to Huish it's a case of...

Carry On Shirley!

As expected - Dame Shirley Nicholas, pictured above on holiday in Bermuda last week, has been re-elected as leader of Huish Episcopi Parish Council. It's not known if Graham Lock remains her deputy - we're just ringing The Old Pound at Aller to find out.
