It's club day! The annual walk of the Langport District Friendly Society...

...and local pub landlords have already been panic buying at Tesco...

Kingsbury Band will be marching through both Huish and Langport  - band members say they'll take their instruments out of storage at the Wyndham Arms on Friday...

Eli's has kindly agreed to do a 'light clean' of the men's toilets...

The final pub stop of the day for the marchers will be the White Lion where the landlady's still telling the landlord how to spell 'accommodation'...

and at The Langport Arms Motel - the kitchen manager's wondering if they've got enough Black Forest Gateau in for the Friendly Society's annual luncheon...

The walkers and band leave the sports club at Langport Rec at around 8.30am on Saturday and - with a handful of stops on the way - call at Courtfield, Eli's, Garden City, Ashley House at The Avenue, Portcullis House at Eastover, back to the Sports Club and then the White Lion before food, drink and speeches at 'The Motel' at around 3pm.

You can make a donation if you see them pass by. Funds raised in recent years have gone to a number of local good causes including Allsorts Pre-School, the local First Responder (emergency first aid) and Somerset Links (transport for the elderly) among many others.

The Langport club is one of only a handful of friendly societies left in the country and dates back to the early 1800s.
