Council votes against application next to Eli's.
Plans by 1980s second-hand car dealer Arthur Daley for a multi-storey carpark on his land next to the Rose and Crown in Huish Episcopi have been rejected by South Somerset District Council. There'd been a local petition against the application but the district planners appear to have agreed with the view that the multi-storey may have been a blot on the landscape.
Mr Daley, whose used car lot next to the pub already attracts tourists from all over Bridgwater, is said to be "disappointed" by the ruling and it's not known if he'll appeal.
