Half-cut at the Halfway...

Take Cover!

"When you hear the beer festival warning...you and your family must take cover immediately...but leave anybody from Somerton outside..."

This was the official police warning being announced on loud speakers across the tiny Somerset village of Pitney this lunchtime as the annual beer festival at the nearby Halfway House gets into full swing.

Last year several people woke up on Monday morning in the bushes at Cartgate Roundabout Picnic Area after 'a few pints' at the festival the day before...and that was just the bar staff.

- and these Pitney Parish Councillors have been asked to 'take it easy' after their behaviour last year..

Carry On Langport popped up to the pub this morning to get a few words about the day with the landlord and his brother...

...but we were too late...

We did, however, get a fax this morning laying out the rules of the day:

1. No talk of politics, especially next month's referendum when Britain decides whether to stay in or leave the Eurovision Song Contest.

2. No talk of 'work' the next day or how early you've got to be up.

3. No talk of 'how to get to Cartgate', people determined to go usually get there one way or another.

4. No dancing round the garden pushing people's faces in bowls of coleslaw (and that means you Wheller & Smoldon)

5. and finally - after last year's horror - please stop Carry On Langport's Editor if you see him trying to 'get home' on any local wildlife...

Enjoy your day and please drink responsibly.
