UK VOTES TO LEAVE EU

...as butchers, bakers and candle stick makers in Langport put up the price of 'European' goods....

There's expected to be major looting and panic buying in parts of Bow Street and North Street today as several businesses are forced to put up the price of European food stuffs and other products in the light of Britain's historic decision to leave the EU.

Croissants in several baker's are expected to be priced at at least £5 each by lunchtime.

"That's not far off what one of'em charges anyway" said a Garden City pensioner, as she threw a brick through the glass at The Kitchen and grabbed what she could.

Scrivens says it may be putting up Chorizo on its Delicatessen counter later today.

"Great news" said a single Mum from the Chatham Place estate in Curry Rivel, "I've been trying to put that up for years...ever since Nigel left me."

Meanwhile, Huish Episcopi Parish Council assured foreign nationals living in the village that there would be no knee-jerk reaction to the referendum result and that they were welcome to stay as long as they liked.

"We'll probably ask Bridgwater and Chard residents to leave" said the Clerk, "but we've been doing that for years anyway"

The result could also mean Langport Stores may now be forced to removed its dodgy Amsterdam-style window display...

We're also getting reports that French kissing is to be banned behind the bike sheds at Huish Academy, "bugger" said the headmaster, "...I'll have to use the stationery cupboard."

More changes are expected in the coming days.

The final result of the referendum was that 51.9% of UK voters chose to leave the European Union with 48.1% opting to remain.

Actual final figures: 17,410,742 leave - 16,141,241 remain.

Just over 33.5 million people voted, that's a turnout of 72%.
