M5 weather report

...as Langport-based motorway sign operator works 'final shift'...

This was the scene on a stretch of the M5 through Taunton earlier this week as a Langport man 'publicly' handed in his notice at the Highways Agency.

The 35 year-old, who can't be named, also altered automated signs leading into both sides of Bridgwater.

They said "DO NOT STOP HERE" and "DOES ANYONE KNOW MY FATHER?"

We contacted the Highways Agency for a comment but a spokeswoman said they were far too busy in Langport spending thousands of pounds pedestrianising one of South Somerset's largest shopping streets - at The Avenue.

This week's rough weather also meant a Langport town councillor was late for a meeting when she was blown off course while cycling into Bow Street...

But no other villages have reported any wind-related incidents, including Drayton - where it was business as usual...

That's it for now - more news as it comes in.
