So what happened in our neck of the woods?
As Huish Episcopi holds its breath for the results of its parish elections on Thursday...you may be interested in what happened in the Westminster parliamentary constituency of Somerton & Frome ...which of course includes Langport and Huish.
David Warburton has held the seat for the Tories with an increased majority.
Here are the final figures:
Conservative (Warburton) 36,231
Lib-Dem (Blackburn) 13,325
Labour (Dromgoogle) 10,998
Green (Simon) 2,047
Independent (Hadwin) 991
Mr Warburton got 57% of the vote in our constituency and the turn out was 75.3%, that's up on last time.
But his party didn't do as well as it needed to nationally meaning the Tories don't have an overall majority nor mandate to run the country.
So it's a hung parliament and the Conservatives may well be leading a minority government.
Think I'll head off to Malaga for a fortnight until it all settles down.
God Save The Queen
