No no, we said be more positive...
A handful of readers (about 3 of you) over the last fortnight have suggested Carry On Langport has been "too negative" and "filled with doom and gloom" in recent months/weeks.
Perhaps it has - although it's hard to be upbeat about the last and oldest bank in the town closing, the post office relocating to a shop counter in a newsagent's, 7 town councillors resigning in a row over the Hanging Chapel and an application to rip out trees and hedges for 90+ new homes in a green space opposite the Kelways Inn.
Was a blog with the word 'Langport' in its title not supposed to mention these stories? (let's face it...barely any other local media did)
- and please don't forget all the fun and nonsense...it's not all been negative...scroll back through the summer and autumn stories and see for yourself.

So - and in case you missed some of these in previous reports - we reiterate our congratulations to the town and its businesses for a number of recent achievments.
Cafe Arteazen and The Kitchen at The Wharf (and further afield The Firehouse at Curry) have all been named in recent weeks/months in regional listings of best places to eat & drink and best newcomer rankings etc.
- and the efforts of Langport businesses and residents in the South West in Bloom competition over the summer certainly paid off...the town picked up a 'Silver Gift Award' and was also recognised as the best new entry in the contest.
Not bad when it faced competition from almost 60 other regional contenders.
Local wildlife is also booming. The otter family is still living happily on the River Parrett and continues to be seen now and then between Bow Bridge and Black Bridge.
- and this rare river wader's been spotted hitching a ride on a passenger ferry...
