Mugabe Resigns

"I've bought myself a little hotel in Langport" says African dictator

After 37 years in power, Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe stepped down this afternoon (Tues) amid his own parliament's attempts to remove him after a military coup just 7 days ago.

The 93 year-old was seen at Bristol Airport just hours ago where he told reporters he'd bought himself "a little hotel on the Somerset Levels" as a retirement present.

It's believed he could be referring to the Langport Arms, which according to press reports last week has been sold off to "an international consortium"

Langport Town Council is refusing to confirm allegations it's given Mr Mugabe diplomatic immunity provided he doesn't take any plates off the wall in the downstairs bar.

But it's believed he has been granted permission to torture and machine-gun anyone who criticises the carvery.

There are also fears the former dictator is already trying to swing the results of this week's town council election at Langport, amid rumours he tried to have councillor Ian Macnab buried alive at Whatley on Tuesday.

- but Mr Macnab told Carry On Langport it was just a "misunderstanding" over how many AK 47s he could help Mr Mugabe get down the River Parrett in his passenger ferry by the end of the month.

"He'll need all the weapons he can get if he wants to get rid of Saunders and her cronies" said a former town councillor from her home near the Hanging Chapel.

"Wish he'd come up 'ere and sort out our town council" said a Somerton man, "...we could do with a few landmines around the Sports Club"

Mr Mugabe told Carry On Langport he was "delighted" that he was in such demand in the area and looked forward to "making a few changes"

There are no further details.
