As townsfolk gear up for council election
The Bat Signal was shining out from the roof of Langport Town Hall last night.
The light is only switched on in cases of town emergencies or around events of great importance, like today (Thurs): a town election to replace the 7 councillors who resigned during the summer in the 'Chapelgate' row.
The polling station is open until 10pm at the Ridgway Hall, 9 candidates are standing to fill the 7 vacancies.
Only Langport-registered electors can vote. Yep, sorry Huishers, you're out. Until you start contributing something to Langport's council tax money pot you don't have a say - unless you want to merge with the town.
Oh dear.
Back to the election, so on your voting slip today you can only choose a maximum of 7 names. A lesser number is also acceptable - so for example if you think only two candidates on the list are any good - then you just vote for those two.
Results should be in tomorrow.
Let's see what we get.

LANGPORT'S CHRISTMAS LIGHTS?
We need volunteers, contact the Town Clerk or just turn up at 8.30am Sunday morning. We need teams of three who can bring their own ladder.
Many thanks
