Happy new year all!

...and don't worry about staggering home in the dark later...

The news team at Carry On Langport would like to wish all their readers [and bodyguards] a happy new year.

"...and don't worry about staggering home pissed up in the dark later" said the Editor from his room at the Grange..."this year we've persuaded the vicar to keep Huish church tower lights on until 2am"

The move follows an incident last year when a couple heading from the club to Courtfield took a wrong turn in the dark and ended up at the abattoir...both had been filleted by 6am.

Another couple, trying to get from Eli's to North Street a year ago tonight, took a wrong turn through the churchyard and haven't been seen since.

"This year we hope St Mary's Church tower will shine out like a beacon to all those who struggle to get their bearings after the new year celebrations" said Vicar Jess Pitman.

"...and for anyone still bumbling around after 2am....I'll be leaving my landing light on."

Good luck with that Vicar, have you heard of the Portland Road prowler?

In other news...

 - a big thank you to all those who support Carry On Langport including those who contribute photographs, stories and ideas.

- and many thanks too to those who have chosen to advertise their business or event on the blog.

What a funny old town/village we all live in and who'd live anywhere else eh?

Let's see what 2018 brings the old place.

Happy new year chaps.
