Earlier this year Langport Town Council/Trust secured £100,000 of European Union funding to spend on a number of ventures along Cocklemoor and the Parrett.
This outdoor ping pong table has turned up in recent weeks signalling the start of the so-called 'river project'
Made and designed in France apparently, it's weighed down and cannot be moved...although they said that about the new phonebox/cashpoint machine in the town centre and look what happened to that.
There was talk of a plan to have a nearby business leasing out bats and balls for the table for a small deposit but so far players have had to bring their own kit.
In the coming weeks other items are expected to show up in the area including sign/information boards and exercise equipment....and even another cafe.
Only kidding 😂
The 'big money' though will be spent on a planned boardwalk between Cocklemoor and Black Bridge, a slipway into the water and floating pontoons.
Exciting stuff...but as Carry On Langport has said from the outset: as long as it's all maintained and looks good then fine. Otherwise it'll end up looking like a load of rusting, weed and graffiti-covered clutter - and none of us want that.
Fingers crossed eh.
