...as pike tries to pull paddle-boarder under.
This was the scene on the water at Bow Bridge yesterday after the River Parrett Pike struck again.
People looked on in horror as the fish pulled and tugged at this woman's ankles as she bravely fought it off with her paddle.
The 19 year-old managed to pull herself up on the bridge to safety but the paddle-board was dragged under and hasn't been seen since.
"The pike hasn't attacked anyone for ages" said James Thurtle at the Langport Boat Hire office, "not since it dragged the 15:30 to Exeter off the viaduct last summer anyway"
A spokesman for the Environment Agency confirmed there's now a cash reward on offer for anyone who catches the pike which has been terrorising that stretch of the river for over 30 years now.
In 1995 it ate the old locks at Stuckey's Island and two years ago an Eastover woman on a lie-low had to get the bus back to Langport after she was dragged to Burnham-on-Sea with only a can of coke and the Western Gazette for company.
