Midweek Bulletin: Bits & pieces from around Langport....

A selection of stories from our correspondents across Langport...

Due to industrial action among our staff, Carry On Langport can only post the headline then a one line summary of stories this week.

Sincere apologies - normal service will be resumed ASAP.

Here goes:

NEW PONTOONS ON RIVER - one minute they're taped up, then they're open and hugely popular with swimmers and boaters alike (pictured), now - Weds eve - they're taped up again. Cow incident maybe?

CAFE ARTEAZEN - not going out of business, not folding, not returning to previous owner and not hosting sex parties again after a 4 year break...simply selling up and moving on to the next adventure.

NO CHANGE PLEASE - rumours mount fish n chip shop Pendra's has been bought out by another local business, The Happy Garden even. Langporters vote for 'no deal' - "please don't change the way you cook it or price it" say locals

ANGEL FISH FOUND DEAD IN LANGPORT ARMS AQUARIUM - nothing to do with a plate being dropped in the tank last Saturday night then?

WRONG TYPE OF STEPS! - Despite requests from Langport Boat Hire...the new in-to-the-water steps at Bow Bridge do not fit the company's fleet of Kayaks...unlike the old wooden ones. Boat Hire staff have had to shut up shop for the summer 2 weeks early.

PADDY POWER OPENING ON CHEAPSIDE - or just a plain old-fashioned second-hand furniture shop opening at the old GTCH premises?

FRANK SPENCER APOLOGIZES - General Manager at Persimmon Homes admits the main road opposite the estate in Huish is closing again due to another balls-up.

and...

THE LONG KISS GOODNIGHT - commiserations to local workers as Langport Tesco lays off almost all its night staff...that little bit didn't help much did it.

That's it for the moment - apologies for the reduced service - as always, many thanks for your contributions, keep'em coming!
