Don't Call Us....We'll Call You!

More disappointment for budding Langport script-writer.

The BBC has once again turned down potential scripts and storylines from a Langport writer for its long-running Radio 4 drama The Archers.

It's the sixth time the Langport man has had his ideas for the radio show rejected.

In his most recent effort, the 51 year-old based a potential plot on a recent scuffle between a middle-aged car mechanic and a pensioner in the Langport Arms over the recipe for pork pies.

"The BBC told me it was ludicrous" said Greg Bown, who asked not to be named.

"What the Archers writers don't seem to understand" he continued, "is that what would be completely daft in any other corner of England actually happens in Langport"

A spokesman for the BBC defended the corporation's rejection of Mr Bown's latest plot idea.

"Totally unrealistic" said Willy Woke, "these things just don't happen....next he'll be telling us there's a town clock that's only right 4 times a day and that townsfolk dressed only in their boxer shorts glass each other outside the local bakery at 6 o'clock in the morning."

But Mr Bown told Carry On Langport he wouldn't be giving up and that he was already working on his next script.

"It's about a pub landlord who rings last orders and sends everybody home early everytime Leeds United don't win" he said.

 Fingers crossed!
