Locals 'outraged' at carboot sale banner...

DISGUSTING

The organiser of this Sunday's carboot sale music and bar event on Cocklemoor at Langport has been forced to apologise after complaints poured in over a banner placed on the old post office railings this week.

A combination of gravity, the wind and the way the railings turn in on themselves at the top end of the sloped walkway has twisted the view of the banner to oncoming traffic, obscuring some of the letters.

Part of the publicity now reads 'Cock This Sunday'.

Carry On Langport has decided not to publish the photograph, for fear of changing a number of people's plans this weekend.

The banner was erected on Monday.

"I knew something was wrong when the two women serving me suddenly grabbed a pen and paper and jotted down the date and time" said a customer at La Fleure.

But not all Langporters were offended by the pubic banner....

"with Priest Lane closed since the spring, we're glad to get it anywhere" said these North Street residents [pictured]

The organiser of the event refused to comment but said he'd never had so many calls since the banner in question was erected....well not since that night up the Club anyway.

There are no further details.
