Tuesday Bulletin:

Swans Nesting Along Edges of Muchelney Straight!

Once again this spring folks, at least a couple of pairs of swans are nesting along the road side on Muchelney Straight.

If you're from round these 'ere parts, you'll know it's nothing unusual.

But if you're not, or you're one of those people who dials 999 when you see a daffodil growing in the wrong place, then....

And so we turn to social media...

Some of the frantic comments about the swans nesting there on a local Facebook page in recent days have given many of us something to chuckle about.

They included many calls for 'the authorities' to be alerted including Somerset Council, the Highways Agency, Environmental Health (eh?) and the RSPCA.

Someone even tried to call the Wombles.

Last night there were unconfirmed reports Donald Trump told the Royal Navy that it should "show some courage" and go and protect 'the Straights of Muchelney'

The President added that if the UK wanted affordable pottery from Thorney then they should seize the Straight and "go get it"

Thankfully common sense appears to have prevailed.

Yes folks, just like last year, somebody's gone out and stuck bollards around the verge where the swans are on their nests.

And at the end of hatching season (4-5 weeks?) they'll be off....just like last year.

Next week

Carry On Langport will be broadcasting live from the gravel path which connects Langport Tesco to the back of the town hall where a cow is expected to stop and stare at a Jack Russel for 30 seconds on Tuesday morning before moving on.

That's your Tuesday evening bulletin folks, thanks for the contributions and log in again soon!
