Tube station for growing housing estate.
Plans have been announced to extend the capital's Piccadilly Line to part of Huish Episcopi. London Underground has struck up a multi-million pound deal with Somerset County Council to have the line lengthened to include the ever-growing Kelways housing estate which in the coming years will spread towards Wearne and over the road to the old peony fields.
The station will be under The Kelways Inn where apparently several tunnels have already been dug. London Underground says the new stop, simply known as 'Kelways', will open in 2025 and also feature an Evening Standard kiosk and 3 homeless people outside.
Langport's Green Party candidate Cara Naden, above, welcomes the project saying it'll reduce traffic in the area and improve air quality.
There are also proposals to extend the Piccadilly Line to nearby Wagg Drove which London Underground says has become an increasingly popular tourist destination in recent years with "all sorts of people" passing through.
