"Nothing happens in the country"

Check out The Rose and Crown this afternoon.

For our dear friends 'The Townies' who come here at weekends and tell their city friends "nothing happens in the country" - go check out The Rose and Crown in Huish Episcopi this afternoon...and try not to be on the roads or any country lane between Huish and High Ham until well after dark.
Over a dozen steam engines, wagons and rollers as well as vintage tractors make their annual pilgrimage to Eli's today from their base at the Steam Fair on land at High Ham. It's a sight to behold and the event pulls in hundreds of locals - with health and safety officers nowhere to be seen. (They're tied up in the skittle alley).
We urge you all to enjoy this surreal rural English event and if you see a cidered-up steam engine driver and his vehicle coming towards you...forget the wife and kids in the car - just get out and run mate, run.

Last year, Huish Episcopi Parish Councillor Janet Seaton's delphinium display was ruined when a rogue steam engine tore through her front garden.
