Thorney Mayhem

...as The Wurzels turn up for tonight's Lowland Games performance...

There's been traffic chaos in Thorney as The Wurzels turned up early this morning (Saturday) and tried to park their vehicles next to the marquee for their performance at The Lowland Games tonight. Tailbacks stretched right back to Muchelney Pottery where one family stuck in a traffic jam ended up buying an 'award-winning' ceramic egg cup for £45 "just to pass the time".
However, all is now in place for this evening's music extravaganza which also features Langport band Fast Decline and newcomers The Black Rats.

Meanwhile, several Carry On Langport readers have enquired about the fighting tonight. Here's the schedule:

10.30pm - Pikeys versus people who want their chainsaws back
10.45pm - Pikeys versus vicars who want their church roof's lead back
11.10pm - Pikeys versus Security
11.20pm - Pikeys versus Pikeys (tickets already sold out)

All participants are asked to do it outside in the field, far away from people trying to enjoy themselves.

Last year, there was an angry confrontation when this family from Bridgwater turned up and asked the Pikeys for their DNA back.

The Games themselves kick off on Sunday at 11am and as usual...South Somerset District Council's health and safety officers are already nicely tucked up...bound and gagged in a barn in Long Sutton until Monday morning.

One of the crowd's favourites at The Lowland Games is often The 'Chunder Challenge', but last year the manageress of Portcullis House old people's home in Langport (above) wasn't impressed when she was asked to eat a resident's testicles.
