Anyone for Pimms?

Forget the cream teas...Huish Church Fete has a Pimms Bar this year

St Mary's Church Fete kicks off tomorrow (Sat). The long-running event, which had been going through a bit of a 'damp patch', has had a shot in the arm in recent years with large crowds and new stalls and attractions.

Even the chief trombonist with Kingsbury Town Band enjoyed himself last year when he and the clarinetist were catapulted off the bouncy castle, over the tombola and into the Vicar's gooseberry patch.

That wasn't the only trouble...former Huish Vicar Hugh Ellis was asked to leave last summer's fete when the church organist caught him uploading pictures of the Vicarage to E-bay. He was later spotted spinning off towards Vickery's at Ash in a yellow Robin Reliant.

This year the fete will go on until 9pm with a barbeque and what's being described as a "Pimms Bar".

"I thought this Vicar liked Gin?" said Malcolm at the Langport Arms.

"She does," said Maureen Pittard at Eli's, "but she switches to Pimms for the fete"

Tomorrow's event starts at 2pm. Go on, whether you're Christian or not go and support your local church...you never know when you're going to need an emergency font.
