Alfred Hitchcock's grandson in Langport to film remake of 1950s classic

A Hollywood camera crew from Warner Brothers is in Langport this weekend to start filming the remake of director Alfred Hitchcock's 1958 thriller 'Vertigo'.

The shoot coincides with Langport Town Council work to put up the Christmas lights.

"We're hoping to get some great shots" said the film legend's grandson Dick.

- and he's not wrong. It's believed volunteers from across the area will be turning up in Bow Street to help mount the festive decorations on Sunday morning.

A number of people have already offered their services including this Aller farmer, photographed yesterday putting up a new sensor light in his yard...

Even overseas families with Langport connections are volunteering. This Irish firm, which has a contract with ABP Foods (formerly known as Romford Meats) says it's "only to happy" to lend a hand...

- but staff at Chubby's told Carry On Langport they "may give it a miss" after last Sunday's scare when 10 litres of unsaturated fat accidentally got sucked up into an aircon unit...

Anyone who wants to help put up the lights or just hold a ladder should meet councillors in the centre of town on Sunday at around 9am.

Let us know how you get on...send pictures in via the blog's Facebook page.
