Politics after tea anyone?

Huish Episcopi Parish Council has its monthly meeting this evening.

Members of the authority, which makes far more money via council tax than its tiny neighbour Langport, will discuss and make some decisions and recommendations on a number of local issues from 7 o'clock in the Huish Sixth building.

One item on the agenda is the two applications by Persimmon Homes to build either 80 or 94 dwellings on Huish land, the Trial Ground opposite the Kelways Inn.

Carry On Langport understands that the council supports the application.

Furthermore, there's been a suggestion that 'some' Huish councillors believe that there's not really that much interest locally about saving the beech hedge - which Persimmon plans to rip out.

If so, then perhaps save-the-hedge campaigners might find the time to attend today's parish council meeting to enlighten them.

Alternatively, perhaps those that allegedly believe "nobody cares" are right - in which case let's them them get on with it.

Food for thought eh.

In other news....

A handful of readers have asked Carry On Langport to pass on their thanks to the dog owner(s) who regularly let their animals crap right in the middle of the gravel path along the moor which links Tesco to the back of Langport - and then leave it there.

It's a rather timely complaint: there's a beauty there today, right next to about 5 kilos of cow dung.
