Here come the steam engines!

It's that time of year again folks...

Yes it's that time of year again when a drive from Kelways to Courtfield can take you twenty minutes, depending on what you're following.

The event's had so many names over the years there's hardly space to publish them all - let's give it a go: The Traction Engine Rally (1970s), the Steam Extravaganza (1990s)...I've missed a few out but now it's called the Somerset Steam & Country Show.

Either way it makes for a great weekend. There's music up there tonight, the show starts tomorrow (Sat) morning, there's music tomorrow night too and another full day on Sunday - and of course there's the big convoy down to the Rose & Crown at Huish Saturday teatime...when for some reason last year there were 10 times as many tractors as steam engines (not really what we all went down there to look at)

If the showground's anything like 2018, the evening gigs will be particularly good - last year most of Langport was drink-driving on the dodgems by 10pm on the Saturday.

Splendid!

Enjoy yourselves people.
