VICAR'S BACK PASSAGE BLOCKED

...as tree in back garden comes down on Priest Lane!

This is the scene on Priest Lane today after part of a tree came down and demolished part of a wall.

The tree in question isn't, as appears, growing in the garden of the boarded-up house opposite The Black Swan but right at the bottom end of the old convent's land.

The footpath, popular with 'Ladies of the Night' and their customers since the 1950s, is now closed off.

"It's a disgrace" said Dirty Gertie from Number 30, "I've had to cancel all this week's clients"

Nobody was hurt in the incident but it begs the question who's going to pay for the massive hole in the garden wall of the house on the other side.

SUNDAY'S CARBOOT SALE

Many thanks to sellers and the public for turning up yesterday despite the Met Office sticking a weather warning on Langport's forecast even though it stayed dry.

We had 12 stalls, that number would have been around 25 had that exaggerated forecast not frightened sellers off who'd booked a plot.

Never mind eh.

Many thanks too to Noodles Icecream, Dave Manning and the two young boys from Absolute Zero who provided the music and Little Van Rouge for doing refreshments.

Great to see people out in the fresh air socialising, enjoying themselves and snapping up the bargains.

Looks like there might be another one end of August, early September.
