Why the obsession?
Look at the map, railway stations just over half an hour away from Langport in several directions.
Why the obsession with building a local train station for the Langport area? Is it really so bad that we have to travel 30 minutes or more to get a train from elsewhere?
Well apparently it is, so bad in fact that £65,000 has now been raised for a feasibility study into the idea.
- and what a great idea! Put Langport on the national rail timetable and on wealthy commuters' radar and watch the place change.
Not only will house prices go up making it even more difficult for locals to buy, but rents will start to creep up too as landlords see the demand for homes near a railway station.
Watch the town become gentrified, watch fields concreted over for even more housing and prepare your farewells to the community we've got now.
Rich or poor, hippie or toff, owner or tenant, singleton or family - we all live here. But you can say cheerio to that economically diverse population when the trains start rolling in from the home counties.

It's a funny old world!
But worry ye not! Instead of thundering through Langport when we're all up and about or at work, to appease the complainants, they're now coming through between 8pm and 4am instead while we're all trying to sleep.
