Cheerio Sandra

Farewell to Langport Arms Legend

If you drank, ate, danced, partied or stayed at the Langport Arms over the years - chances are you would've been met and or served by Sandra Stranger who's died at the age of 77.

Born in Wearne in 1948, she stayed local all her life, marrying, bringing up two sons and working at Clarks Shoes of Street before her hotel days began.

Sandra was also a prolific flower arranger, doing displays for weddings and other events and briefly ran a local fruit & veg stall.

But for many of us over the years, alongside former owners Malcolm & Richard, she was the face of our town centre hotel - clocking up 3 decades there.

Sandra's life changed dramatically in 2019 when she suffered a massive stroke and could no longer work or get about by herself.

But she refused to give in, battled on and frequented the Arms as often as she could make it.

And didn't they know it!

(the Baileys sales rep still has a room there)

😁

If you'd like to pay your respects, Sandra's funeral takes place at St Mary's Church, Huish Episcopi tomorrow [Thurs] at midday followed by a celebration of her life at the Arms.

Family say all are welcome.

 Cheerio then Sandra xxx
