Quack Quack Quack!

Langport Duck Race!

Like other towns and cities have done for many years, we are delighted to share the news that a Langport Duck Race is on the cards.

The event, involving racing rubber ducks along a local waterway, will take place on a stretch of the River Parrett on the spring bank holiday, Monday 25th May.

It's being organised by the Langport & Somerton Rotary Club.

"Thank goodness for that!" said a local woman, "if had been the masons, there'd be nowhere to park"

Details of the duck race are still being finalised but Carry On Langport has seen a 'leaked' e-mail from the rotary club which suggests some locals and/or their businesses will be banned from taking part.

They include ABP (amid concerns they'd buy up all the nests), the manager at Langport Tesco (who'd close all the staffed nests and ask the ducks to serve themselves) and the management at Pendra's (who'd have their ducks waiting at the start line in 5 different places)

Names of birds taking part and sections of the race will also have to be 'moderated' to avoid offending the under 30s.

The Swan of Colour, Bridge of Colour and Muchelney 'Heterosexual' are just some of the proposed changes.

And it's believed litter trays will have to be installed along the route to cater for any cats competing from Huish Academy.

For more details follow the Langport Duck Race on Facebook.

That's your Sunday bulletin folks.

Thanks for the contributuons and carry on reading!
