Langport Town Clock update...

 Not looking good!

Let's have some comforting music from the 70s to put us in the right mood first before we hear the bad news...

OK then, the long and the short of it is the hands are buggered but the bell's chiming away quite accurately on the hour, in fact it even strikes while BBC Radio 4 is playing the pips - marvellous.

But sorting the hands is going to cost money, including scaffolding to get up there. Oh for the days when Ernie or Chris Osborne would have got out on the roof and hit it with a hammer.

The clock and town hall is now overseen by Landmark Langport, that's the charity trust set up to run, fund and maintain a handful of our public buildings.

So unless it's changed since last night, the hands are now stuck on midday on one side and half past 11 on the other.

But at least the old boy's chiming ....and don't the flags look good!
