The BBC says the final episode of its thriller Priest Lane drew in around 12 million viewers last Sunday night.
The drama, written by Happy Valley creator Sally Wainwright, followed the lives of people who live near and use the notorious pubic footpath in Langport.
[SPOILER ALERT]
The last episode showed the lane being closed off and demolished for good and replaced by a cable car system connecting the Black Swan to the Old Convent.
But in a dramatic turn of events, it gets sabotaged and crashes down in to North Street celebrity Marti Webb's garden. In the final harrowing scenes she is seen helping casualties out of the mangled wreck of the cable car singing her 1980 hit 'Take That Hook Off Your Face' .
Ms Wainwright told Carry On Langport she was delighted with the success of both Happy Valley and Priest Lane and that she was already thinking about another Somerset-based thriller which could be set just up the road.
" 'Seven Bends' will be about inbreeding between Aller and Othery" she told us.
"In the 1800s?" we asked, "No no" she replied, "last summer"
Filming is expected to begin in June.
For anybody who missed the 4-part mini series, Priest Lane is now available on the BBC iPlayer.
