Police have confirmed a giant pendulum swang out in to the road outside the town hall in Langport last night.
The 9-metre long structure, belonging to the town clock, crashed in to the windows of the old bank opposite where the recently-opened Kiln Cafe now operates.
It then swang back out across the street with a giant ceramic fruit bowl stuck on the end, which several passers-by quickly threw their car keys in to.
and by this morning a huge potted pampas grass had appeared outside on the pavements.
"I've never seen such a big one" said one eyewitness, "well not since in all those gardens in Pitney in the 90s anyhow"
An investigation's underway and there are no further details.
